3 Workout Tips to Get Toned Legs Fast
If you're like most women, you want to get toned legs fast so you can look great in that little black dress or those cute new denim shorts, especially this time of year when it's warm out. Well here are a few simple steps to get you on the way to having shapely looking legs in less time.
1. Strength train.
The best way to get toned legs fast is to work them! Women often neglect strength training but this is one of the most important steps to adding tone and definition to your legs. Don't worry your legs are not going to end up too bulky, unless of course you're taking some sort of growth hormone or steroid! The best leg toning exercises include a variety of exercises to tone the glutes, quads, hamstrings, and calves such as:
- Stationary Lunges or Walking Lunges
- Bench Step Ups
- Wide Squats
- Calf Raises
The are many variations of the above exercises and I suggest exploring them all and changing up your routine often to get shapely legs fast.
2. Burn off the fat with cardio.
If there's a big layer of fat over your leg muscles, you're never going to see them no matter how toned they are! So time to burn off that fat with some heart pounding, sweat inducing cardio exercise. Some great ways to burn calories and fat include:
- Step Mills or Stair Climber Machines
- Elliptical Machines
- Aerobics class or other group fitness class
However, keep in mind it's important to find an activity you enjoy so you don't get bored.
3. Try some plyometric exercises.
Plyo what? Yeah it may sound scary but it's not as bad as it sounds. These exercises are a bit more advanced so probably not the best option for beginners, but as you get stronger and more fit these exercises will be one of the best ways to work and tone your legs as well as get your heart rate up for that cardio fat burning effect. Plyometric exercises are jumping type exercises that require to use power from your legs. They are also some of my favorite exercises so that's why you'll see them so often in my fat burning workouts each week. Plyometric leg exercises include:
- Lunge Hops
- Squat Jumps
- Box or Bench Jumps
- Tuck Jumps
- Lateral Hurdle Jumps
